Long Exposure Photography Meetup

Sunday 21 January
Broad St, Old Portsmouth - 6pm - 2 Hours
Portsmouth Photography Group
If you really want to make use of the long Winter evenings as we head in Autumn, and to add an extra flair to your photography, then long exposure photography may be for you!

Long exposure is where we make use of very slow shutter speeds to allow as much light into our camera as possible. The effect? Light trails, blurring, smearing, and obscuring of moving elements with a creative (sometimes ghostly) effect. The fundamental for night-time photography, astrological and abstract ideas.

This meet up is for all abilities whether you are an advanced photographer, or a complete beginner, you are very welcome.

We will meet in the heart of Old Portsmouth on Spice Island to see the wandering busy streets, view the boats in the harbour (and potentially focus on the night sky if we have a clear night as it is a new moon phase!)

A very enjoyable event with no restrictions on the subjects photographed. This gave the group the freedom to photograph anything that caught their fancy. There were boats, yachts, people, trees, birds, fungi and everything in between! Nikki is a very personable character who encourages and inspires in equal measure. I think everyone enjoyed the event and will, hopefully share their pictures.

As we walked through Southampton's common park in late autumn, the colorful leaves of the trees caught my eye. The warm sun cast a beautiful glow, creating a serene scene. I was with someone special, sharing laughs and stories, feeling the warmth of both the sunlight and their company. It was this magical symphony in my heart and eyes that prompted me to freeze this ephemeral beauty in a photograph. November 25th , 3:29 pm

I was walking around city center and Mayflower Park. On my way I stopped at Town Quay Park Southampton. There are very old ruins surrounded by iron fence and just behind the fence I spotted those little beautiful flowers. I set my camera on the manual settings to capture those beauties.
